About us
A family business run by two brothers based in Ontario, Canada.
With a focus on producing quality items to last, just like it was done in the old days.
A peek into our creative small workshopUsing traditional machinery & restoring older machines that have built the industry in times past, to keep them alive and working away!
We just love to be organized even when it comes to shipping we like to make sure the boxes are sized well and we are offering the best shipping we can, to keep costs down for our customers

We are always on the search for the best hardware we can find.
Our hand tools are used daily, no matter what you cant beat a hand tool
A little trait about us, we always like to do things ourselves. For example we learned how to make our own website, we restore our machines ourselves, we have even tanned hides ourselves (not for our products) We renovated and build our shop ourselves we do all own photography (probably obvious, we are still learning) All graphics logos and designs we (Luke) have learnt to do, worktables, electrical you name it. Why? because if you want it done right you have to do it yourselves. We want you to know that's the kind of people we are. We want to do it right.

We pride ourselves on the fact that we make all our items from start to finish, in our small workshop, located in Ontario Canada.
How we started - For those who want to know about the people behind the product.
Luke & Jake - Started out on a 5x3 foot table in the corner of a room and $500 of tools and leather. That's it. No help with money and no other job to lean on. We had to make it work, why? Well Jakes health took a turn where we couldn't do what he use to do and that's where his brother Luke thought of leather, were we could work together still work at our own pace, and yet have no heavy lifting or anything to strenuous for Jake, Each year we have grown and improved as we invested back into our business. However after a few years into the business Luke suffered from a massive stroke. Jake was running the business and family farm for the first time without him. Luke had a slow recovery but fought back, learning to walk again and get back into the shop. As brothers we have always looked out for one another. We have never taken the easy route and we have always kept our integrity.
From our workshop to your hands When an order comes in it is not just on our shelf ready to send out, we look at the options the customer has selected, making sure that it has no errors or perhaps something the customer has overlooked. Then we start by cutting from our selection of leathers, being sure to choose the correct thickness and leather type for the task, as different sections of leather are for different purposes. Careful measuring and cutting by hand along with trimming and beveling the edges and punching any holes if needed of the leather take place. We apply dye on the leather based on the customers choice. All products are sealed with a finish and conditioned. Edges are smoothed out, sewing take places if the project requires it. Whenever a font is on an item, it is hand carved into the leather prior to the dying stages, and also hand painted. Any hardware is added in assembly as well.

Our Pledge of IntegritySeveral times each week we are contacted by companies trying to sell us their "leather" items from overseas, they offer us prices that are less than even our costs to create items here in Canada.
Over and over we turn their offers down, their items are often made using child labor, inferior quality, fake leathers and are designed to break in order to be replaced over and over again. Even though our profits could be much higher, and our time wouldn't be spent on having to build items ourselves. Our pledge is to make each of our Leather items here in our shop and to never buy in these premade items. It's our promise to our customers and to all those that share the same values as us. We want you to be able to pass our items down to the next generation, instead of the landfill. |
A business run by family. Each bring different strengths to the business. Brothers Jake & Luke were sick of the poor quality found in products on the store shelves with no options for personal customization, and less and less being made in North America.
Who's the craftsman making your item? who's answering your email? Who's talking to you on the phone? With Old Country Leather you are always dealing directly with the owners, we want the job done right.
100% real Leather, no pleathers, no bonded leather no imitations just the real deal. Majority of our items are made with full grain leather. Which offers the most in strength and beauty with lovely natural characteristics.

No robots here, just the use of our 2 hands and some minor shop tools. Producing lovely quality handcrafted items that go through the long process of being built with our hands.
We love getting feedback to build a better business, and one of the best ways is by reading the reviews. Check them out for yourself!
Made using sustainable resources.
There are not many companies that can say this, but we are Made in Canada.
From Canada to around the world! Our little business has shipped across the Globe.
We offer so many options so you can customize your orders.
Finding out that most other Canadian and American businesses were just importing their goods from overseas and passing it on as their own, instead of making quality items themselves was a constant disappointment and a surprise. We wanted to truly make each item ourselves.
Sounds simple, but the more you look into a companies products the more you see how much they import and in many cases a "American" or "Canadian" company may just have their products have their own tag and logo put on a product but be fully made overseas. Then they end up just shipping it out from their location and all their focus is on advertising and marketing. Instead of producing a quality item.
We produce each item from scratch starting from the cow hide. Ethically made items, with true passion and care.
